Are there any charities or financial groups that aid in the training of a psychiatric service dog (PSD?)

Charities and Rescues

I have been legally disabled most of my life, but my psychiatrist and I recently agreed that I could and would benefit from the aid of a psychiatric service dog (PSD) for various issues including severe anxiety (which often prevents me from leaving the house) and OCD. The problem is that I am still in college and am having trouble affording the cost required to train such a dog. There are several groups in existence that aid in the training and/or placement of vision, hearing, seizure, and autism dogs... however, while my dog's training would be very similar to that of an autism dog, I do not have autism. Does anyone know anything about this--is there even help to be had? I apologise if this is the wrong place to ask this; I am, unfortunately, new.

I would like to take a moment to introduce a lady that I am very proud of, and take every opportunity to brag about her accomplishments. Her name is Susie Jean, and she runs a non-profit 501-C3 organization called Vest 'N P.D.P., Inc.

Charities and Rescues

The main reason for the organization is to provide bullet-proof / stab-proof vests for our K-9 police dogs in the line of duty. I would like to invite you to visit her website at www.vestnpdp.com and check out the great things that are happening in her support of our officers and their K-9 partners nationally. The real reason I want to introduce Susie to you and her organization, is she has over 50 requests from police, sheriff, and prison guard dogs at this time that need to be vested. We are not looking for your donation financially, but request your assistance in raising the public awareness to the cause and need for the vests. The public and corporate support over the last 7 years has been extremely appreciated, but we could sure use some help in getting out the word at this crucial time. Thank you so much for taking the time to get acquainted with our foundation, and I invite you to take a tour of the website and invite those that you come in contact with to do the same.

Know of Shelters in desperate need of repairs?

Charities and Rescues

Dogasaur blogger Jennifer Nicole Cox (bentleysmomma) is doing some research and could really use the help of the dogasaur community. If you know of any shelters that are in desperate need of repairs, please contact her at DogStories2010@yahoo.com. These can be repairs such as needing a new roof, needing new flooring, needing new paint on the walls, electrical problems fixed, plumbing problems fixed, etc. Basically, if all of the needed repairs are taken care of, the shelters can spend all of their received donations on the dogs (food, medicines, etc.) and not have to worry about the shelter falling in around them. Jennifer is working on a project that could hopefully help these shelters. If you know of any shelters, please contact her. She's ONLY interested in shelters that are in a horrible state of condition.
