I HAVE A BLACK LAB AND HE SHEDS TERRIBLE.WHAT CAN I GIVE HIM FOR THE HAIR PROBLEM?

Answers to this question:

Canine shedding may be improved by diet and the addition of essential omega-3 fatty acids. Extra virgin olive oil is one source of fatty acids and a teaspoon can be added to your dogs meals. Bathing with organic oatmeal shampoo and a good grooming to remove the undercoat will also help. If you live in a colder climate adding humidity or buying a humidifier will also help to moisturize the air in your home which will benefit your dog. Commercially available natural dog skin & hair coat products such as Dermalustre are worth consideration as is a good natural vitamin supplement with selenium and zinc.

Organic oatmeal shampoo(colloidal) and rubbing the skin with mineral oil may help.Daily brushing and grooming is important, but dont bathe more than twice in a month,or else you will only worsen the problem.Consult a veterinarian.

Weekly organic oatmeal baths are one of the easiest and most cost effective measures a pet owner can do to reduce pet itching and allergies. Bathing dogs 1-2 times a month because of a various fears such as "drying out their skin" is a wives tale and not true at all. If it were true then for example, normal humans bathing 1-2 times a day would be affected adversely.
