There are several products on the market that keeps dogs free of ticks and fleas. I have been using "Advantix" for years and my dogs have been completely free of the pests (keeps mosquitoes off, too.) The same company makes "Advantage" which is for fleas only. "Frontline" is another good product. Simply apply a few drops on the dog's back and it keeps fleas off for about 30 days...

dont just treat your dog treat your yard termidor sc, or bayer tree and shrub. some people have even been known to put 10cc of bayer tree and shrub (the concentrate not the one with plant food) on their dog instead of advantix. but if you dont treat your yard your not gonna rid you dog of fleas no matter what you use...

Also treat your house. If your dog is an inside dog and has fleas, chances are, there are fleas throughout your house. Wash all the sheets, vacuum and shampoo the carpets, etc. Once you get control of the fleas, use a flea preventative EVERY MONTH and stay on schedule.
